The Acquired Taste Of Women

By Jodie Whelan

Cobblestone Theatre present their new full length show of The Acquired Taste of Women. A comedy play bursting with life and laughter written by company co-founder Jodie Whelan, directed by Tamsyn O'Connor and Paul Broughton.

Jessica (Jodie Whelan), Louise (Charlotte Darley), Becky (Lucie Jowett) and Lauren (Hannah Drury), four friends straight out of University and adult life is not what it was painted to be. Wondering why they are left without financial stability, the four fiery females face a burst of 'Post-Graduate depression'. What better way to try and lift spirits than to throw a house warming party for new tenants Jessica and Louise? But in a (very) small flat, the bank balance of four unemployed people, and some unwanted guests on their way, the party turns out to be not the best of ideas.

And after the positive feedback and reviews of performing this in July 2018 as part of the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival. The decision is made to perform an hour long version. A lot of comments we got was that it wasn’t long enough and that they wanted more! So here it is. Ready to go. A longer, funnier, cruder, cheekier and crazier version of the 30 minute piece already performed. It is a story of friendship, laughs and sex (with a huge package full of innuendos) it’s an original northern comedy challenging the expectations of young women on stage.
